Reflections on YDEV
Does it relate to how you understand YDEV? http://education.stateuniversity.com/pages/2557/Youth-Development-Programs.html In the article I read about YDEV History the first opening sentence states “youth development programs seek to improve the lives of children and adolescents by meeting their basic physical, developmental, and social needs…” This sentence is exactly what YDEV majors are focusing on here at RIC. During this semester I have learned how to mentor and meet the needs of young adults in the community and at my internship. In the early twenty-first century youth development programs were focusing more on a positive/strength-based approach for young adults. The youth development programs were now being used to keep teens from engaging in risky behaviors, and allow them to focus more on becoming happy, self-reflecting on themselves, and planning a future.
